I'm planning on going to a convention next month and realize I'm too afraid to bring my sony a100k with me because it's so big -
that said I'm looking for small cameras, but at the same time I realized I have only Kodak Memory cards.
Do Kodak Memory cards work with other brand cameras, like Nikon, Sony or Canon?
And if they don't, do you think it'd be more worthwhile to get a Kodak camera or buy new memory cards?

Of course they do ... all memory cards are standardized. CF, SD / SDHC, xD and Memory Sticks
So if your Kodak Memory cards are designed for use in a Sony camera (Memory Stick) they will work. If they are SD, xD or CF cards the reason they will not work is not because of the brand, but the size and shape of the card.
Here is the run down. Memory Sticks (any brand) only work in Sony digital P&S cameras. xD memory cards only work in Olympus and a few older Fujifilm P&S cameras and SD / SDHC memory cards will work with all other P&S cameras.

sony vertical grip help?
I have a Sony a300 with the kit lens, a Centon 70-210mm lens, a flash, a slave flash, a light stand with umbrella, a remoter shutter release, a camera bag, a tripod, and 2 batteries. I was thinking about getting a vertical grip for my camera that holds 2 batteries for $78 on ebay(if you want to see it search for it on ebay, it is the only one for a300 for $78).Should I buy that, or is there a better way to spend my money?
Also, I will be in the U.S. capital in a week, and since they do allow cameras in, I will take alot of pictures. Do you have any recomendations?
I have never used the Sony A300 but I will say that with the Canon Rebels the vertical grip is a very good addition. I find many of the entry level DSLR's to be a little to small in my hands. The battery grip adds some more room and makes the camera more comfortable in my hands. I also find the vertical shutter release to be a nice feature. If the vertical grip is a Sony brand product and not a cheap third party grip then I would recommend it.
