I have a neighbor who has a custom aluminum yard sign in his front yard at all times. No, he's not having a garage sale or trying to sell his home in this crazy housing market. His custom sign actually lists the Ten Commandments, of all things. This sign is not only a reflection of his beliefs but an expression of something he can't display just anywhere. Does anyone stop to read his yard sign? Probably not word for word, as there are a lot of words in the Ten Commandments and he lives on a busy road. His white lettering on a dark green background gets attention and the large lettering at the top stating, "The Ten Commandments" is really all anyone needs to see to know how this man feels, which is his point. And the beauty of this sign is that this neighbor has the full protection of the law in displaying it.
Everyone in town knows this man for his yard sign, which is exactly how he wants it. There is another woman in town who has 'God Bless America' printed onto a cardboard sign and posted on her fence. She also has a similar sign hanging in a window of the retail business she owns. Can anyone stop her from hanging her custom signs? Would anybody want to? Her signage is all modestly displayed on her own property.
I bet you've seen similar signs of personal expression, if not in someone's yard, then on cars, t-shirts, even billboards. If you're not shy about stating your beliefs, then a custom sign is a fun way of drawing attention to the things that are important to you.
Custom Signs Of Expression Can Be Subtle
Maybe you're not interested in displaying a sign in your front yard or business window stating your beliefs, but you do want others to know that your thoughts are to be counted. I see custom magnetic car signs everyday that say 'Support Our Troops', 'Support Alzheimer's Research', or similar custom magnetic car signs that get your personal message across in a smaller, yet equally effective way. For example, let's say you agree with my neighbor and his "Ten Commandments" sign, but don't want one of your own in your yard. Imagine a simple custom magnetic car sign that simply says, "The Ten Commandments" in white lettering on a dark color. Your custom car sign would have the same effect as the man's yard sign in stating your beliefs, only a custom car sign is likely to get more visibility. Simple, subtle, effective.
Do you support a cause or political candidate that is virtually unknown in your area and you want to change that with your custom car sign or other type of custom sign? Don't feel like you are stuck with the pre-made signs you see already available for purchase. Create your own custom sign, much like my two neighbors did. It is an inexpensive way of getting your message across, and when other people see your sign, they will be generally curious about it and may invite an opportunity for you discuss your beliefs with them.
How Do I Create A Custom Sign?
The production of custom signs has never been easier or more cost efficient. Thanks to the marvels of full color digital printing, any image you can create can be printed onto adhesive material and bonded onto your sign, be it an aluminum yard sign, a vinyl banner sign, or a custom magnetic car sign. Even full color digital photographs can be transferred onto your new sign, and the quality is amazing. And market research has proven over and over that signs bearing full color photographs get more attention and a higher rate of memory than other styles of custom signs.
Simply contact a high quality sign company and let the professionals know what kind of sign you're interested in ordering. Digital printing also has reduced the labor costs of sign making, so ordering a custom sign is more affordable than you might think. And getting what you want for less is a statement that everyone can believe in!
Like The First Amendment, Custom Signs Are Here To Stay
Aren't you glad that no one can stop you from expressing yourself with a custom sign? Whether displayed in your yard, window, or car, whether you are promoting a political candidate or simply stating your thoughts, nothing says it better and for longer than a custom sign. So celebrate your freedoms by creating a sign that speaks for you!

With the hustle and bustle of today's life, many of us never have the time or take the time to stop and smell the flowers, let alone closely observe the wildlife around us. However, for those of us retired geezers fortunate enough to be living in Paradise, where the tropical flora and fauna abound, the beautiful flowers and birds are literally everywhere; so conspicuous that you'd have to be blind to miss them!
During the eleven years that we've lived on the Sierra Madre hillside overlooking Banderas Bay and the city of Puerto Vallarta, there have been a number of generations of tropical birds that have chosen trees on our property to build their nests. Some of the nests are built in the forks of the trees, others are located in the fans of palms, and still others are precariously hanging from the very end of branches. A couple such hanging nests are currently "front and center" in our picturesque view.
Invariably, when friends visit our house, they will inquire about those large nests hanging from the tree. Our response has always been that they are just some kind of local birds that like to build their nests in our trees; not a very precise answer! Being retired and on Mexican time, we did not exactly rush into determining the correct answer to their question; however, after eleven years, we decided to research the subject and learn what kind of bird builds the hanging nests.
When we first asked the local natives of the area, we were informed with authority, that Calandrias build the hanging nests. Having never heard of such a bird, we then went to our translating dictionary and found that Calandria is Spanish for Oriole. Okay, now that we have a suspicion that the hanging nests were built by orioles and not claiming to be professional bird watchers (the only orioles that we're familiar with are from Baltimore), we decided to look a little further. We brought out the digital camera and started watching and waiting for the perfect moment to capture the builders in action.
To our astonishment, there are over 400 species of tropical birds in the area and we had no idea how to even begin our classification process. We see the flocks of green parrots and a myriad of colorful song birds every day in the Banderas Bay region, however all that we knew for sure was that the builders in question were yellow and black; therefore birds of that color combination became our focus of attention. To our dismay, there are a half dozen or more different species of yellow and black birds in this area of Mexico. After researching the yellow and black birds that build hanging nests, it was determined that the nests could be the handy work of either orioles or caciques; both residing in the Vallarta hillsides and both species of the Icteridae family of birds, sometimes referred to as Troupials.
Most of the yellow and black orioles found around Vallarta are Hooded, Scott, Black Vented or Wagler, and Bullock Orioles, all of which build their pendulous nests at the end of branches. The Yellow Winged Caciques, quite similar in appearance to the orioles with very similar hanging nests, are also often seen around Vallarta and are easily confused with orioles by amateur bird watchers such as us.
Now, armed with just enough information to be dangerous and our digital camera in hand, we set out to photograph these beautiful nest builders. After just missing a hundred great "photo ops", we finally got a close up picture of one of these beautiful birds on our terrace. We studied the photo closely and compared the yellow and black bird in the photo to the various orioles and caciques under consideration and finally determined that it was of neither species and not even of the Icteridae family of birds!
Although Yellow Breasted Chats of the Parulidae family are numerous in the area, this was definitely not one. This was a Great Kiskadee, a strikingly beautiful bird that appeared to be borrowing the hanging nests on a temporary basis; perhaps even stealing straw from the hanging nests to build their own side entry nest in a large fork of the tree! The Great Kiskadees are of the Tyrannidae family, have bright yellow breasts, dark olive-brown backs, and very distinguished and unmistakable black and white heads. They are quite aggressive and were seen defending their territory in the tree from much larger birds. Our initial thought was that these Kiskadees were defending the hanging nests, but after discovering that they don't build hanging nests, it was concluded that they were defending the nest in the fork of the tree that was probably built partially from twigs and straw stolen from the abandoned pendulous nests.
Now we're back to square one; who built those abandoned hanging nests? Since we weren't paying attention when they were being built and there are so many magnificent yellow and black birds in the area, we'll probably never know for sure who built them! Although we see many of the beautiful Yellow Winged Caciques in the neighborhood and they do build the hanging pendulous nests, we should probably just accept the local knowledge and assume these particular nests were built by some kind of oriole or calandria. The seasoned bird watching veterans would probably tell us that those nests hanging around Vallarta were built by Troupials of the Icteridae family; thereby sounding intellectually brilliant while covering all their bases by including all orioles and caciques!
If nothing else, the research associated with this exercise sure did make us much more aware of the beauty around us. There are literally hundreds of different species of tropical birds in the Vallarta area that we can enjoy year round and therefore it's no wonder that this region in Paradise is a virtual playground for the professional bird watchers. On the other hand, with the perfect climate, incredible scenery, and fun to be had, perhaps bird watching is just a good excuse for scheduling their next field trip to Vallarta!

Should I head out to this Cemetery again?+BQ?
Me my mom and our cousins went out for pizza last night. One of them told us that our other cousin headed out there a few years ago when it was about to close down for the night. They are in their late 50's early 60's and they would not lie. They said he was walking around looking for my grandmothers grave to put some flowers out. He saw people with black hoods with a chicken, chanting and saying "Hail Satan" behind a huge tree. He was so scared he only goes during daylight hours now. I guess those people have still been out there. So with my question, what would they have done if they saw him? Chased after him or would they have ignored him? They were definatly satanists.

Don't know about the BQ, but i huess they may have ignored him aslong as he didn't interupt their rituals. Who knows.

Also known as the October Birthstone and the 14th and 18th anniversary stone, the opal is one of nature's greatest splendors. The colors can vary in any color of the rainbow. The most striking quality of opal is its ability to refract and reflect specific wavelengths of light. The interplay of different wavelengths of light gives opal its unique visual appeal, and makes it one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world. It is definitely one of the world's most beautiful and precious gemstone. The word opal derives from various languages: in Sanskrit upala, meaning "precious stone", in Latin, the opalus and Greek opallios, both meaning "to see color change".
Opal: History
The earliest known opal artifacts was discovered back from 4000 BC in Ethiopia. These artifacts were discovered later in a cave in Kenya by famous archeologist, Louis Leakey. Opal was stated to have magical qualities and also to aid its wearer in seeing unlimited possibilities. It was also thought to loosen inhibitions and promote impulsiveness. Opal has been said in medieval times to be a cure for diseases of the eye. Opal is also stated to be cure for blood disorders, depression, apathy, helpful with reproductive organs, filter red and white corpuscles, and brain disorders.
Opals: How are they formed?
Opal is formed from silica-bearing waters and can be found inside any type of rock. Opal is formed from a solution of silicon dioxide and water (SiO2 + nH2O). As water runs down through the earth, it picks up silica from sandstone, and carries this silica-rich solution into cracks and voids, caused by natural faults or decomposing fossils. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind a silica deposit. This cycle repeats over very long periods of time, and eventually opal is formed. Though the water evaporates, the opal gemstone still contains 13% water.
Opal: Color
The Opal can come in many different colors. In its fundamental form the opal is colorless, but this is rarely found. The difference in color comes from the formation process of the water forming tiny spheres, all of which are usually uniform in size and order diffracting light within the stone thus creating various colors of the rainbow. The more uniform the size of the spheres, the more intense, brilliant, and defined the color will be. If the spheres are random in shape and arrangement, common or colorless opal is formed.
The color of the opal depends solely on the uniformity of the tiny spheres. In smaller spheres, the spectrum of blues and violets would show. In larger spheres the colors of orange and red will show more on stone. These stones are highly valued since they show more "play of color" or spectral colors when rotated.
Opal: Different types
The opal can be found in many varieties and types. Fine quality opal surprisingly, is more rare to find than that of rare rubies and emeralds. Below are different types of Opal that can be found:
Black Opal - These types of opal are the most rare and most valuable of all opals. These opals usually come in bar form. Despite the name, these types of opals have the complete colors of the rainbow but the body is of dark colors of black, brown, blue or gray.
Boulder Opal - These types of opals are usually found in the mining fields of Queensland, Australia. This type of opal is often cut with the ironstone left on the back, as the opal seam is usually quite thin. They can be found in many different forms and colors: its surface can be smooth or uneven, with the opal occurring as a solid piece on top of the ironstone or showing as flashing flecks of color throughout the ironstone.
Common Opal - These types of Opal does not display any "play of color" and are classified as non-gem quality Opal. These types of opals are inexpensive and hold very little value.
Synthetic Opal
Synthetic opals are created in laboratories and are hard to tell apart from natural ones without use of laboratory. The first synthetic opals were created by Pierre Gilson in 1974. He used a synthesizing method which is called flocculation method. This method involves producing colloidal silica and separating and eliminating spheres using sedimentation process. This process takes the course of some months to produce.
There are also man-made stones such as doublets and triplets. Doublet Opal is made of thin slices which are glued onto silica material, glass or iron stone. The dark blackening gives the opal a more enhanced color. Triplet opal are made from three pieces, which consist firstly of a flat thin slice of precious opal, secondly a layer of common opal, glass or porcelain that has been darkened and thirdly a layer of quartz. Triplet opals are usually cheaper than doublet opals due to the fact that doublet carries a higher content of precious opal.
What colour is visible when light passes through a red filter and a green filter?
The RAF man is right in theory, you should not get any light at all passing through both filters. However in practice there is no such thing as a perfect filter and you proably will get a little light coming through. It is impossible to predict the colour because it will dpend on the imperfections in the filters.

Spam Filters Explained What do they do? How do they work? Which
one is right for me? By Alan Hearnshaw
Spam is a very real problem that many people have to deal with
on a daily basis. For those that have decided to do something
about it and start to investigate the options available in spam
filtering, this article provides a brief introduction to your
options and the types of spam filters available.
Despite the bewildering array of spam filters available today,
all claiming to the best one "of its kind" there are really just
five filtering methodologies in general use today and all
products rely on one, or a combination of these:
Content-Based Filters "In the beginning, there were
content-based filters."
These filters scan the contents of the and look for tell-tale
signs that the message is spam. In the early days of spamming it
was quite simple to look out for "Kill Words" such as "Lose
Weight" and mark a message as spam if it was found.
Very soon though, spammers got wise to this and started
resorting to all kinds of tricks to get their message past the
filters. The days of "obfuscation" had begun. We started getting
messages containing the phrase "L0se Welght" (Notice the zero
for "o" and "l" for "i") and even more bizarre - and sometimes
quite ingenious - variations. This rendered basic content-based
filters somewhat ineffective, although there are one or two on
the market now that are clever enough to "see through" theses
attempts and still provide good results.
Bayesian Based Filters "The Reverend Bayes comes to the rescue"
Born in London 1702, the son of a minister, Thomas Bayes
developed a formula which allowed him to determine the
probability of an event occurring based on the probabilities of
two or more independent evidentiary events.
Bayesian filters "learn" from studying known good and bad
messages. Each message is split into single "word bytes", or
tokens and these tokens are placed into a database along with
how often they are found in each kind of message. When a new
message arrives to be tested by the filter, the new message is
also split into tokens and each token is looked up in the
database. Extrapolating results from the database and applying a
form of the good reverend's formula, know as a "Naive Bayesian"
formula, the message is given a "spamicity" rating and can be
dealt with accordingly.
Bayesian filters typically are capable of achieving very good
accuracy rates (>97% is not uncommon), and require very little
on-going maintenance.
Whitelist/Blacklist Filters "Who goes there, friend or foe?"
This very basic form of filtering is seldom used on its own
nowadays, but can be useful as part of a larger filtering
strategy.
A "whitelist" is nothing more than a list of e-mail addresses
from which you wish to accept communications. A whitelist filter
would only accept messages from these people and all others
would be rejected
A "blacklist", conversely, is a list of e-mail addresses - and
sometimes IP Addresses (computer identification addresses) -
from which communications will not be accepted.
While this may seem like a good idea from the outset, a
whitelist methodology is too restrictive for most people and, as
virtually all spam e-mails carry a forged "from" address, there
is little point in collecting this address to ban it in future
as it is very unlikely to be the same next time. There are
bodies on the internet that maintain a list of known "bad"
sources of e-mail. Many filters today have the ability to query
these servers to see if the message they are looking at comes
from a source identified by this Internet-based blacklist, or
RBL. While being quite effective, they do tend to suffer from
"false positives" where good messages are incorrectly identified
as spam. This happens often with newsletters.
Challenge/Response Filters "Open sesame!"
Challenge/Response filters are characterised by their ability to
automatically send a response to a previously unknown sender
asking them to take some further action before their message
will be delivered. This is often referred to as a "Turing Test"
- named after a test devised by British mathematician Alan
Turing to determine if machines could "think".
Recent years have seen the appearance of some internet services
which automatically perform this Challenge/Response function for
the user and require the sender of an e-mail to visit their web
site to facilitate the receipt of their message.
Critics of this system claim it to be too drastic a measure and
that it sends a message that "my time is more important than
yours" to the people trying to communicate with you.
For some low traffic e-mail users though, this system alone may
be a perfectly acceptable method of completely eliminating spam
from their inbox - one step above the "Whitelist" system
outlined above.
Community Filters "A united front"
These types of filters work on the principal of "communal
knowledge" of spam. When a user receives a spam message, they
simply mark it as such in their filter. This information is sent
to a central server where a "fingerprint" of the message is
stored. After enough people have "voted" this message to be
spam, then it is stopped from reaching all the other people in
the community.
This type of filtering can prove to be quite effective, although
it stands to reason that it can never be 100% effective as a few
people have to receive the spam for it to be "flagged" in the
first place. Just like its similar cousin the Internet black
list (RBL), this system also can suffer from "false positives",
or messages incorrectly identified as spam.
Hopefully you are now armed with a little more information to be
able to make an informed decision on the best spam filter for
you. For further information, consider reading the reviews and

Even if you have one of the best spam filters on the market, some spam will always make it through. What is more important than having the best spam filter on the market is having the right spam filter for you. One spam filter doesn’t automatically benefit everyone, you need to find a spam filter that is best for your needs.
Pretty much everyone with a an email account has a certain amount of spam, even if you never visit any of the typical places that spammers harvest email addresses from, such as forums, chat rooms and other websites. All it takes is one spammer to find out that your email account is active and you will find your account will be flooded by more spam mail. One of the main reasons why there is so much spam around is because spam emails are so easy to create.
Many, if not all email users rely on some form of spam filter to block out spam emails as oppose to manually going through each individual email to delete them. However even when using spam filters some genuine messages can get caught up in the spam filter, meaning messages that you actually want/need to receive are getting deleted.
There are many different spam filters available today, all of which deal with spam in different ways. These spam filters vary in technique but by having so many different spam filters available, you are guaranteed to find one that is suitable to your needs.
One of these filters is a user defined filter. This filter is one that is already included in most email accounts. With this filter you can forwards mail to many different mailboxes. For example if you frequently receive mail from friends you can create a mailbox entitled friends and forward the mail from people you know to this mailbox. You can also forward mail to your trash if you are unsure of the sender and if the content of the email looks suspicious. By doing this you need to carefully look at the mail that you are receiving, you should be looking for characteristics and any recurring patterns in the senders email address or the subject line of the email.
Header filters are a more advanced filter, they look at the headers of emails to see if they are fake. The way in which this is done is because email headers contain information regarding the servers that were used to deliver your mail. Spammers don’t want to be traced so they put false information in the email header to stop people directly contacting them. Good spam filters can detect forged headers, showing what email is spam, however not all spam emails have fake headers.
Another filter; that is very specific is a language filter. These filters work by stopping emails that appear in another language. This filter won’t help people who receive a large quantity of spam as spam that appears in other languages isn’t really a major problem when it comes to spam. Spam that appears in another language only makes up a small quantity of the spam that we receive on a daily basis.
One of the more effective spam filters that will be of more help to a lot of people is a content filter. This filter scans all the text in an email to see if the content makes sense. It filters emails that appear “fuzzy.” Although this spam filter is effective at catching a lot of spam emails and will benefit most people when it comes to fighting spam, it can also filter out things such as newsletters that you are subscribed to.
Another filter that works well is a permission filter. This filter blocks all emails that don’t come from an authorised source. When you first set up this filter and go to send an email you will receive an automated response inviting you to visit a web page. On this page you will need to fill in some details. This will make your account authorised and any future emails that you send will be accepted.
When you choose your spam filter you should make sure that you get one that is right for your needs and that will stop the amount of spam that you are receiving.
